AGE OR ERA: Authentic, original, true art deco vintage bracelet - estimating 1920's to 1930's - the heyday years of bakelite jewelry
MARKINGS: None
METAL / MATERIAL: Bakelite
TESTING: Tested positive with both the Simichrome and rub and smell test methods
CLASP / CLOSURE: None - slide over the hand to wear
MEASUREMENTS: Bracelet has a width of about 3/4" - and an inside diameter of aprox 2.5" across. When placed on my bracelet sizer - it stops at the 8" measurement. But - that doesn't necessarily mean it will fit a wrist of that size - knuckle size and flexibility plays a big part in being able to slide your wrist through. I would sure strongly recommend comparing the inside diameter of a favorite bangle you have "on hand" to the inner diameter of this beauty (2 1/2")
WEIGHT: 22.5 grams on my scale
U.S. RING SIZE: x
INTERESTING INFORMATION: Bakelite bangles are highly collectible due to their scarcity, vibrant Art Deco styling, and the fact that they are made from a unique and durable material. Widely known to be one the first synthetic plastics (invented in 1907 and production for jewelry purposes largely stopped in the 1940's), Bakelite jewelry pieces enjoyed wide spread popularity but also a very short production run. They offered a bold modern look, came many color choices, and were well made and sturdy. Designers with a keen eye and sense of style, like Coco Chanel, knew early on these pieces should be seen as wearable art and staples of any smart costume jewelry wardrobe. This bangle is extra special as it ranks very high for rareness and collectibility, having several desirable characteristics like the striking color tones and carved pattern
