*UPDATE - THESE WERE SOLD, PASSED AUTHENTICATION AS BEING 14K OR HIGHER GOLD CONTENT, AUTHENTIC, AND AS DESCRIBED. They were returned by the buyer, their reason being that the gold is slightly "darker" on one than the other .... this is visible in the photos and is simply patina, tarnish and/or grime that could be easily cleaned / polished to be remedied if you choose to do so. Antique gold isn't always completely uniform in color and tone - and that is part of the charm. I don't clean any antique jewelry as most collectors appreciate the original finish
Antique solid 14k gold and enamel cufflinks / cuff stud buttons:
~ Befitting stitched pattern engraved button hole design echos and highlights their purpose
~ Features a swirling vine or floral pattern that mimics and compliments the round shape
~ Glossy black enamel elevates the design, perhaps mourning pieces
~ These resemble the Victorian stud buttons, but have a fixed back for insertion into a shirt cuff's button hole
~ These are in fantastic condition, especially considering their age - it would be a challenge to find nicer examples
~ I believe these were meant to be men's wear - but they are totally unisex and certainly perfect for anyone who loves them
~ Ready and waiting for your finest ensemble, special occasion, collection, and/or gift giving - you will love these!
ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = True antique Victorian men's accessories - circa 1800's, most likely early 1800's
METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = Solid 14k yellow gold with gloss black enamel
CLOSURE/CLASP = None - insert to wear
MARKS = None that I could find
MEASUREMENTS = Faces are aprox 3/4" in diameter, and cuff button portion on the back is about 1/2" in diameter - roughly 3/8" tall or thick
US RING SIZE = x
WEIGHT = 8.5 grams together on my scale
TESTING = Tested strongly to be solid 14k yellow gold with a reliable method that does not damage, mar, scrape, mark, or otherwise devalue or interfere with the integrity of the jewelry, of course
CONDITION = Excellent antique condition - no damage or quirks found to mention. Very light scratching / wear on the enamel (and you have to look very closely / inspect with magnification to spot that) and no cracks or chips out to be found. Tons of life left in these heirloom quality pieces - if they continue to be as well taken care of in the future as they have been in the past. In an excellent state of preservation.
"A picture is worth a thousand words"
Please view & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged and not mentioned. Individuals do have varying levels of desire and tolerance for "vintage charm" so do utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all, as they are an integral part and extension of the description.
